Military-spec connectors replace commercial versions
One of the themes of Xponential was a move toward military-grade components in drone applications where the payloads and missions are a bit more strategic than, say, a better view of a music concert. An example of the trend could be found at PEI-Genesis which offered connectors that meet Mil-T-81714. Examples include the SJS112110P Luminus Series (top image) sealed to IP67. These “scoop-proof” connectors feature a locking mechanism and are suitable for blind-mating and meet RoHS mandates. Typical uses are in aircraft interiors, lighting, and seats. Another example is the TE Deutsch 369 series rectangular connectors (bottom image), also originally designed for aerospace cabin systems. They are available in 3, 6, and 9 contact styles with AS39029 contacts that extract and reinsert using standard tooling.
