TE Connectivity Ltd., Harrisburg, Pa., announced today its full family offering of crimp termination Quadrax contacts as a high-speed solution for harsh environment applications, such as commercial avionics systems, military communications, in-flight entertainment and space applications.
“The harsh environments of military and aerospace applications require contact options for a wide variety of connectors, such as ARINC 600, DMC-M, and MIL-DTL-38999 style configurations,” said Brynn Zech, product manager, Global Aerospace, Defense & Marine, TE Connectivity. “With the recent addition of TE’s DEUTSCH Quadrax contacts, we now provide a full product offering and can deliver a customized solution to help meet the needs of any demanding application.”
TE’s Quadrax contacts are a multi-signal contact system consisting of two differential pairs (matched impedance) used with quadraxial Ethernet and Fiber Channel cables. The contacts are available in shell size 8 (keyed), 24 AWG pin and socket contacts, Hex Crimp version, as well as pin PCB tail solderable versions. They are adaptable to a variety of connectors (ARINC 600, 404, D-Subminiature connectors, General Purpose Rectangular, DMC-M, EN3545, MIL-DTL-38999 style, etc.) and have been designed for use in high-speed applications such as Gigabit Ethernet, IEEE 802.3Z and Fiber Channel X3T11.2.
TE’s Quadrax contacts meet ASTM E595 outgassing limits for spacecraft materials; meet ARINC and EN specs; and are adaptable to MIL-DTL-38999 Series III. The single-piece, dielectric design simplifies termination and improves reliability. Ideal for use in harsh environments, the contacts are available with silicone seal boots rated for 50,000 feet altitude.
