Bulgin launches smallest rugged fiber optic connector

April 30, 2018 By Mary Gannon Leave a Comment

Rugged connector and component manufacturer Bulgin has launched a new series of LC fiber optic connectors specialized for use in harsh environments. As the smallest rugged optical connector available on the market, the 4000 series Fiber Simplex connector is ideal for outdoor broadcast, FTTX (fiber to the x), server room engineering, civil engineering, marine, aviation and rail applications. The connector’s small form factor is particularly useful where installation space is limited or multiple connectors need to be accommodated.

Bulgin-BU004_Image1_4000_Series_Fiber_HRESFeaturing a secure quick twist (30°) bayonet connection, the 4000 series Fiber Simplex connector accommodates durable mechanical mating. Its industry standard LC interfaces (IEC 61754-20) features color-coded O-rings and washers for ease of identification. Mounting body options include Flex, Flex In-Line, and Rear Panel styles.

With extremely low insertion loss (average: < 0.1 dB, max: 0.2 dB), the 4000 series Fiber Simplex connector offers reliable performance regardless of the application environment.

With its IP68-rated sealing caps, the connector provides protection against dirt and water ingress (fully submerged up to 2 weeks at 10 m), the connector is ideal for typical outdoor installations such as underground, on antennae and mounted on utility poles.

The Polyamide UL94-V0 flame retardant molding is IEC 61300-2 tested to operate between –25° and 70°C. For marine applications, the 4000 series Fiber also offers connectivity with salt spray resistance (tested to EN60068-2-52 Test Kb Salt Mist [Cyclic] Marine Severity Level 1).
