FCI, Singapore, announced today the extension of its storage family with the 12 G Single Connect Attachment-2 (SCA-2) Connector System.
The latest range of SCA-2 connectors allows the hard disk drive to interface with the backplane in enterprise storage systems. The connector design and its PCB footprint is enhanced resulting in improved impedance, insertion and return loss and crosstalk improvements making it operational for 4 G, 8 G and 12 G applications. This new SCA-2 receptacle connector is also footprint compatible with existing applications.
“These new SCA-2 connectors are developed in response to our customers’ requirement for 12 G Gb/s performance, paving way for the next generation of server and storage solutions by increasing their IO performance,” comments Martin Ng, Product Portfolio Director. “These connectors are designed with ease of adoption, as they are footprint compatible with several existing products which helps to shorten time to market.”
The vertical backplane receptacles are available in 11.5- and 17.5-mm extended body height with options for through-hole solder, press-fit or surface mount board termination. SCA-2 headers are designed for straddle mount board termination.
The SCA-2 Connector System is fully compliant to the signal integrity requirement of the SFF-8680 industry specifications. It is highly suitable for storage backplanes, external storage systems, servers and HDDs.
