LEMO has introduced the REDEL SP IP68 Series, a new family of compact circular connectors designed for medical equipment, test and measurement devices, and unmanned aerial systems. The series provides IP68-rated sealing without the use of resin or potting compounds, aiming to simplify assembly while maintaining environmental protection and mechanical durability.The connectors use a resin-free sealing structure that provides protection against water and dust when mated. Housings are made from PPSU, an FDA-certified polymer known for resistance to repeated sterilization, cleaning agents, and harsh operating environments. The design incorporates LEMO’s internal push-pull latching mechanism and a flexible insert system for both plugs and receptacles. With up to 22 contacts within a 15.5 mm diameter, the connectors offer high contact density for space-limited designs.
Mechanical features include reinforced shock resistance and construction intended for long-term wear. The resin-free sealing approach is designed to minimize assembly steps and enhance consistency while maintaining watertight performance.
LEMO notes that achieving full IP68 protection also depends on the selection and assembly of the cable. The company offers BioCompatic® medical-grade cables and cable-clamping solutions designed to maintain sealing performance, signal integrity, and sterilization resistance. Complete assemblies are manufactured under ISO 13485 quality management processes.
