Locking connectors enhance mechanical stability in RF systems

November 3, 2025 By Redding Traiger Leave a Comment

Amphenol RF has introduced SMA locking cable assemblies designed to provide reliable high-frequency connections in compact systems. The assemblies feature one end with a locking MHF 4 LK connector and are available in both SMA and reverse-polarity SMA versions.

The assemblies use 1.37 mm micro-coaxial cable, which combines flexibility with the ability to transmit signals up to 7.1 GHz. This configuration is intended for applications that require secure RF connections and resistance to vibration and mechanical stress, such as IoT devices, unmanned aerial vehicles, communication systems, and defense equipment.

SMA connectors use a threaded coupling interface and are constructed from gold-plated brass. The MHF 4 LK connectors are made from gold-plated phosphor bronze to support reliable electrical performance. Together with the small-diameter cable, the assemblies offer a compact interconnect option suitable for confined or mobile environments.

The SMA and RP-SMA to MHF 4 LK cable assemblies are offered in a range of standard lengths and in both IP67 and non-IP67 versions. These pre-configured options expand Amphenol RF’s existing cable assembly lineup for designs requiring durable, space-efficient, high-frequency connections.
