Self-securing push-pull circular connectors for military and medical applications

December 3, 2014 By Mary Gannon Leave a Comment

ODU-PushPull-circular-connectorsODU-USA, Camarillo, Calif., announced the availability of Push-Pull circular connectors on the US market. Thanks to robust construction and proven ODU contact technology, thousands of mating cycles are possible using the Push-Pull circular connectors.

The Push-Pull locking system allows the connection to secure itself when mated. The innovative design prevents the connectors from accidental disconnection. The connectors can only be disconnected when the user pulls back the outer sleeve of the connector. Available in four styles to meet the demands of many markets, the Push-Pull connectors are designed as reliable products for high performance circular connector solutions and cable assemblies that work efficiently in demanding and harsh environments.

ODU’s Push-Pull circular connector design also features quick and easy coupling capabilities, up to IP68 watertight capabilities, blind mating abilities in hard-to-reach spaces, definite and secure locking, robotic mating and demating possibilities, high connector density, low space requirements, and 5,000+ mating cycles.

The ODU MEDI-SNAP and ODU MINI-SNAP PC have plastic housings, which are ideal for disposable and re-usable applications where sterilization is required, such as in the medical industry. The disposable connectors are available in various colors, coming with pin counts in the amount of 2-14.

The ODU MINI-SNAP and the ODU AMC (Advanced Military Connector) have rugged housing (standard metal,) featuring pin counts ranging from 2-55 contact points, along with several color and mechanical keying options available.

They are compatible with many of the medical industry’s electronic equipment, to include MRI applications, inhalation devices, defibrillators, clinical communication systems. The ODU MEDI-SNAP and the ODU MINI-SNAP PC’s plastic housing allows for disposable and reusable applications.

In addition, they provide the ability to assist in military radio and radar station connectivity, submarine technology and sonar systems. The metal housing of the ODU MINI-SNAP and the ODU AMC ensures that the cables will stay connected and all devices will remain functional in a rugged and harsh environment.

In industrial applications, Push-Pull circular connectors are used for sensor systems, in transportation services such as trams and trains, in automatic assembly machines, and in workplace power supplies. The metal housing of the ODU MINI-SNAP and the ODU AMC is ideal for industrial and military environments that require a durable and secure connection.

Finally, The Push-Pull circular connectors are also effective in measuring and testing applications, to include the testing of injection valves on machinery, assembly group testing, and the measurement of distance and layer thickness.
