The ibow angle adapter from igus Inc., East Providence, R.I., converts straight, round connectors to angled ones. It reportedly permits fast, easy and safe connection of circular connectors at a user-defined angle. The product lets workers plug in connectors “around corners” quickly and flexibly, according to the company. And it is also suited for retrofit applications.
To install the device, technicians need merely slide on and attach the ibow to a suitable connector, bend the cable to form an angle, and secure the sleeve in place with a cable tie or tie wrap.
• Connection at a defined angle.
• Freely selectable angle of rotation.
• Can be retrofitted or supplied as igus’s ready-made harnessed readycable.
• As an option, the units can be color-coded or inscribed.
The simple injection-molded part can be installed even if the cable assembly is already connected to a machine—there is no need for disconnection. And because straight circular connectors tend to be much less expensive than their angled counterparts, cost savings can be substantial. It also opens the door to stocking fewer types of connectors. The ibow is typically used in applications like circular connectors for electrical drives.
