TE Connectivity offers expanded line of AMPLIMITE rugged connectors and backshells

February 24, 2016 By Mary Gannon Leave a Comment

TE-Connectivty-AMPLIMITE rugged connectors and backshellsTE Connectivity Ltd.  announced its expanding its AMPLIMITE D-Sub Backshell product line. Designed to meet MIL-DTL-24308 and European Space Agency (ESA) specifications, the new accessories offer environmental sealing, shielding and strain relief for a broad range of rugged applications including: aerospace, defense, communication, industrial, medical, mass transit, shipbuilding, oil and space.

TE’s acquisition in 2015 of Polamco Limited (Polamco), a U.K. based manufacturer of precision connectors, enables TE to add protection covers, hardware and gasket options and heat-shrink boots for its AMPLIMITE product line.

“The addition of the Polamco backshells, interconnect accessories and custom solutions for rugged applications enhances our offerings to customers,” said TE Product Manager Kris Beaver. “A broader range of standard products and expanded capabilities in customized interconnects help ensure that TE can be a single source for connectivity solutions for rugged applications.”

The new AMPLIMITE D-Sub backshells are available for individual wires, or for overall 360° coverage, providing a wide range for MIL-DTL-24308 connectors. The accessories offer a large range of entry and angle options including: top, side, 45 and 90° entry, in addition to customer specifications.

For custom solutions, TE’s innovation and technology center is able to produce rapid prototypes on a 3D printer within 24 hours of creating the design. The prototypes are designed to enable clients to check fit, form and function of the end product ─ within an overall assembly. Accessories can be modified when requested, which reduces the overall time required for the product development cycle, allowing shorter lead times on custom products.
