Drones are all the rage and a day doesn’t go by when there isn’t a story in the mainstream news about them. The latest news from the FAA that it expects to see 7 million drones in the sky by 2020 simply astounded me. It also got me thinking about how the technologies I write about every day are used to make these machines safe, secure and fun.
One such component is the Fischer connector, which is used in Rapid Composites’ Bullray Tricopter, Quadcopter and Pentacopter drone for law enforcement, military and some commercial applications. In this AUVSI video from 2015, Alan Taylor of Rapid Composites tells us how the amphibious drone uses IP68 connectors from Fischer Connectors for their lightweight design and custom cabling options.
