Tool-free wire insertion featured in latest connector line

June 28, 2024 By Redding Traiger Leave a Comment

KYOCERA AVX has released the new 9289-000 Series waterproof wire-to-wire connectors. These connectors are designed for IP67 connections in industrial, transportation, commercial, and consumer electronics applications.
The 9289-000 Series are single-piece, three-position waterproof wire-to-wire connectors. They are the sixth poke-home wire-to-wire connector series in the KYOCERA AVX portfolio and the first to be waterproof.
These connectors are engineered to simplify the termination process for power and signal applications requiring waterproof connections. They allow tool-free strip-and-poke-home wire insertion and twist-and-pull wire extraction for solid and stranded wires, facilitating in-field connections with IP67 protection.
The series features transparent polycarbonate insulators for visual confirmation of wire positioning. The single-piece phosphor bronze contacts have tin-over-nickel plating and high-force contact beams for mechanical stability and wire retention. Integral wire-stops prevent over insertion.
The 9289-000 Series connectors are rated for up to 10A, up to 1,000VACRMS or DC equivalent, and operating temperatures from -40°C to +80°C. They accommodate 16AWG wire with outer diameters of 2.0–2.2mm or 3.0–3.2mm. The connectors are UL approved and RoHS compliant.
Potential applications include factory automation equipment, outdoor recreational vehicles, transportation lighting, horticulture lighting, outdoor power and lighting applications, home appliances, and drones. Parts are packaged in bulk quantities of 200 pieces per bag. Variants with other contact counts and wire sizes are available upon request.
