Wire-to-board connector system ensures electrical, mechanical reliability

December 17, 2018 By Mary Gannon Leave a Comment

Molex has released a new Micro-Lock Plus wire-to-board connector system for users in the automotive, industrial and consumer applications, designed to provide reliable electrical and mechanical performance in a compact, high-temperature design. Customers needing a compact wire-to-board connector with a high-current rating up to 3.0 A will benefit from the new system.

The 2.00 mm pitch version offers 2 to 16 circuits in a single row with vertical and horizontal configurations; a connector with a positive lock that has an audible click when it latches; an outer lock to provide extra strength; SMT terminals to prevent whiskering; metal tabs that reduce strain on solder joints; and dual contact points in an expanded terminal and lance area. The 1.25 mm pitch version includes a variety of colors; up to 42 circuits in single and dual rows; and an inner lock for dual connections and an outer lock for single connections.

“The new features included in this connector system will make our customers’ lives easier,” said Kazuhiko Ishikawa, global product manager, Molex. “They provide reliability in rugged environments, remain secure in compact applications, and audibly latch to avoid improper mating, a common problem with other microminiature wire-to-board systems.”

The Micro-Lock Plus Wire-to-Board Connector System meets automotive, industrial and consumer applications requirements and is rated at a 105˚C operating temperature. In addition, with this system, customers can purchase all their connectors from a single source and can order custom products as well.
